Driver: Rui Teixeira

Bio:

Rui has everything necessary to compete at the top levels of motorsport after a long 11 year karting career serving as his education. At 19 years of age Rui Teixeira has made the jump from a National Level Karting Program to a career in Professional Motor Sports with Lombardi Honda Racing. With a karting record second to none, this talented young driver exhibits all of the necessary skills to compete at the top level of motorsports. In 2006, Rui captured a race win in the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship and emerged as a significant threat in all six championship rounds. At the prestigious Barrie Grand Prix, he led all 28 drivers to a championship title. In 2011, Mosport International Raceway hosted the Pan-American Championship rounds and Rui Teixeira came home with an international victory, a first for his new team, Racing Edge Motorsports! Race critics praised the performance of the daring young driver: “Teixeira defied all odds as he drove a flawless race.” (ekartingnews.ca).

Teixeira is determined to succeed in Motorsports. At age 11, he told American Le Mans Series Team Flying Lizard Motorsports (ALMS): “I will do whatever it takes to be a part of your team.” Since then he has not missed a single ALMS event at Mosport International Raceway. Just two years ago, Rui decided to perfect his skills by joining a lower category race team. The team competes with “West” prototype cars and follows the ALMS. Max De Angelis, a driver in the series, describes Rui as “a very dedicated kid.”Rui has been paying his dues by watching how these advanced racecars operate. His dedication to the sport is further emphasized at St. Joseph Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario where he is enrolled in the Specialist High Skills Major automotive program. This senior level ministry of education initiative includes a coop requirement which Rui completed at Street Power Performance where he made a favourable impression on owner Sean Ali: “I like the way his mind works, he processes things really well.”
